Cornish Pilot Gig Rowing is a potentially dangerous sport with a real risk of loss or damage to life and limb. Boscastle & Crackington Gig Club has developed a series of policies to address these risks and to make the sport as safe as possible within practical means.

All members and prospective members are strongly advised to understand the risks involved, what we intend to do to minimise them, and to decide if they are prepared to accept those risks.

As an affiliated CPGA club we have formally adopted the CPGA Health & Safety Guidelines and Water Safety Guidelines. You can download a copy of these by visiting the CPGA website.

We have also produced our own BCGC Health & Safety Policy which builds on the CPGA policies. You can download a copy by clicking here.

In addition, we have also carried out a detailed risk assessment to determine what the risks are, the likelihood, the severity, and developed a series of controls. You can download our risk assessment by clicking here.

BCGC Child Protection Policy, the club encourages under-18's to take part in rowing, and has therefore adopted a Child Protection Policy which you can download here. We have also agreed to be bound by guidance on this matter from our sports governing body, the CPGA. Visit their website for further information. Safety is an issue for all concerned, so if you have any ideas or suggestions that could help make us a safer club please send us an email to info@boscastlegigclub.org.uk
